Cleary University Wins 2017-2018 USCAA Director's Cup

Richmond, VIRGINIA – For the second straight year, Cleary University has taken the USCAA Director’s Cup home to Michigan. This marks only the second time since the 2012-13 and 2013-14 years that a member as repeated as USCAA Director’s Cup Champions.

The Cleary University Cougars took part in seven USCAA National Championship events during the year, including winning two championships in Women’s Cross Country and Softball. The men’s golf team placed second in the Golf National Championship and men’s cross country and baseball each placed third in their respective tournaments. Both soccer programs earned bids to the National Championship with each team securing a fifth place finish. Cleary finished with an unprecedented 622.5 points on the year.

St. Mary of the Woods College finished with 477.5 points to secure their second-place finish in the Director’s Cup race. St Mary of the Woods had four top-three finishes at championship events in men’s golf, women’s cross country, volleyball, and softball. Top-five finishes in men’s cross country and women’s basketball pushed the Pomeroys into the second place finish. This marks their first Director’s Cup awards placement.

The Florida College Falcons participated in seven USCAA National Championship events to finish third. The Falcons qualified for a national championship in each sport they offer. During Fall Championship Week, each cross country program finished in the top ten and the men’s soccer team finished fifth in their National Championship appearance. Florida College won the Women’s Volleyball National Championship for the fourth straight year. Both basketball teams earned bids to the USCAA Division 1 Basketball National Championship in Uniontown, PA. The men’s program finished fifth in the tournament field while the women’s program lost to the eventual champions, Rochester College, to finish third.

Director’s Cup points are awarded for the number of sport offerings and are also based on results from USCAA National Championship events. The final top-20 Director’s Cup standings can be found below.
