Registration for the 2018 USCAA National Convention is now open. The Convention will be held at the Richmond Marriott in downtown Richmond, Virginia from June 3-6, 2018. Richmond was voted by Forbes as one of the top 10 coolest places to visit in 2018. Read the article here.
Please note that there are several changes to previous formats of the schedule. Important changes to note include registration moving to Sunday morning and the Hall of Fame and welcome social moving to Sunday evening. The opening session will start our day on Monday morning, and will include a state of the association prior to opening for Town Hall sessions. Monday evening will offer several networking options and an opportunity to learn everyone’s favorite Olympic sport of 2018 – curling! An abbreviated convention schedule is included on page two of this document.
The USCAA National Convention is an annual meeting of USCAA Athletic Directors, administrators, and coaches. The event includes Town Hall sessions on championships, ratings/selections and bylaws, business meetings, as well as professional development and social opportunities. Members are highly encouraged to send at least one representative.
Information on how to book your trip to Richmond, Virginia is available on the Convention website. Attendees will be able to register for the event and book rooms using convention website. Please note that registration and room booking are separate actions. The room booking link will become active by March 19th. Additional features include links to the legislation and town hall proposal forms (not valid until after March 30), Board of Director nominations forms (not valid until after March 30) the USCAA’s scheduling message board, Director’s Cup standings, and more.
The cost of Convention registration is $250. This includes registration, complimentary wi-fi throughout the conference, breakfast and luncheons throughout, and tickets to USCAA Hall of Fame Dinner and socials. Pretty much all you have to pay for is your travel to Richmond!
As an incentive to register early, all individuals who register prior to April 1st will be entered to win one of three raffle prizes including two gift cards and an Apple iPad.
Guests (spouses and children) are invited and can purchase meal tickets for an additional cost at uscaa.ticketleap.com. A meal ticket gives guests access to the welcome social, breakfasts, and lunch on Monday and Tuesday. Rooms at the Marriott start at $149 a night for a single or double occupancy. Rooms must be booked by May 12th to get the USCAA’s group rate.
This year’s convention features several unique professional develop topics important to sports administrators. Additionally, in collaboration with Visit Richmond, we will host two group social events, which are outstanding networking opportunities.
Additionally, the USCAA is opening calls for legislation proposals and Town Hall discussion on Friday, March 30. Those forms are also located on the convention website. All proposals should be emailed to email@example.com or faxed to 757.706.3758. If faxing forms, the USCAA will send an email receipt. If you do not receive a receipt, your forms were not received. A detailed email on proposals will be distributed in late March. We encourage members to be a part of positive change and submit ideas for Town Hall or legislation!
